If live tuning is going to be done make sure it is NOT the driver doing the changes. It is NOT recommended nor is it safe to make changes while driving. Make sure to have someone other than the driver make changes if live tuning is going to be done. Im going to be installing a wideband O2 sensor and am looking for a basic tune to start with so just some basic tuning information and increase efficiency, I will be taking to get Dynotuned at a later time, but would like to educate myself, at least at a basic level. It is no longer required to turn the car off and then download a new tune, just simple make the desired change and press the update button. Yes this means you can finally tune while the car is running.
Typically on EEC-IV this is usually ECU Pin 27. See the ECU Pinout List for which pin is the EGR Valve Position. This input can be reused to datalog a 0-5v input (such as a wideband) when the EGR is disabled and no longer used. With the Moates Quarterhorse the tuning parameters, such as MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) curve can be changed on the fly. Most all EECs have a 0-5v analog input used by the egr valve position. True realtime emulation allows instant changes to any calibration parameter while engine is running. Here are the key capabilities: Datalogging of all sensors and values to the PC. The accuracy of the quarter mile times will depend on the accuracy of the vehicle speedometer and how fast the logging rate is. This makes editing the definitions file very user friendly The definition files that are NOT open source are either in an encrypted database format or an encrypted Excel format. Its Open Source definition files (Strategy Files) are saved in Excel. The Binary Editor software allows for editing of the Ford EEC binary data.
